Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina — November 20, 2025:
The Cultural Center “Altindag” in Visoko marked the Day of Prayer and Action for Children under the theme: “Let’s stand with children in war by providing them with safety, security, and dignity.” The event, organized by the Public Institution Center for Culture, Sports, and Information Visoko and the Association of Women for Interreligious Dialogue in Family and Society “Mozaik,” highlighted the vital role of communities in protecting children affected by conflict.
The gathering brought together Arigatou International, the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), Prayer and Action for Children, Ethics Education for Children, End Child Poverty, GNRC Bosnia and Herzegovina, and local primary and secondary schools.
Interfaith prayers for peace, safety, and dignity for children worldwide were led by community and youth representatives, emphasizing the role of hope and solidarity in challenging times. Ms. Ismeta Salihspahić, President of Mozaik and GNRC Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of unity, advocacy, and support for children directly impacted by war.
Messages of support were shared via video by GNRC Youth Coordinator Ms. Zvonimira Jakić and Ms. Ornella Barros, Head of Global Advocacy and Coordinator for Prayer and Action for Children, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in protecting and promoting children’s rights.
The program featured creative presentations by students, including recitals, songs, plays, and dances, celebrating their voices and perspectives on peace, safety, and dignity. The event also recognized the best student submissions from a city-wide competition on the theme “Let’s stand with children in war — let’s eradicate child poverty in the world”, encouraging young people to reflect on the realities of war and the importance of child protection.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to all contributors, highlighting a shared commitment: every child, regardless of religion, nationality, or social status, deserves safety, security, and dignity.
“Today, our children from Visoko stand with children everywhere affected by war. Together, through prayer and action, we advocate for a hopeful and peaceful future for every child,” organizers concluded.
