From November 26 – 27, Costa Rica became a vibrant meeting ground for faith, education, and peace at the Latin American & Caribbean Conference on Fostering a Culture of Peace through Promoting Interreligious Dialogue and Education. In this powerful space of exchange, María José Ananías represented the region on the panel “Interreligious Dialogue and Education: A Path to Peace,” sharing how GNRC committees are actively Answering the Call of the Child through both formal and informal education.
Drawing from the Learning to Live Together Manual and the Guide to Advocacy from an Interreligious Perspective with Adolescents, her contribution highlighted how children and young people are being equipped not only with knowledge but with the values, skills, and confidence needed to become builders of peace in their communities. This work reflects our collective commitment to building a hopeful world for children that is safe, secure, and sustainable, in line with the Abu Dhabi Declaration on Building a Hopeful World for Children.
The conference, organized by KAICIID, Religions for Peace LAC, UPEACE, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, also opened the door to new regional initiatives that will be carried forward through collaborative working groups in the months ahead. As this work continues, updates will follow, reflecting a growing movement of partners united by a single purpose: ensuring that every child can grow in dignity, peace, and possibility.
