Global Network of Religions for Children Receives the African Interfaith Harmony Award from United Religions Initiative Africa
GNRC dedicates the honour to the children, faith leaders, members and partners whose interfaith action has protected and empowered children for twenty-five years
Nairobi, 26 October 2026 – The Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), an initiative of Arigatou International, has received the African Interfaith Harmony Award from United Religions Initiative Africa (URI Africa), in recognition of twenty-five years of interfaith action advancing the rights, safety and well-being of children.
The GNRC Secretariat accepts the award with gratitude and humility. It receives it on behalf of its members, coordinators, partners and faith leaders and, above all, the children in more than 80 countries whose courage and commitment give the network its purpose.
The award was presented by Amb. Mussie Hailu, Regional Director of URI for Africa and Representative for the African Union and UN office in Africa, to Dr. Mustafa Y. Ali, Secretary General of GNRC. Receiving the award on behalf of the GNRC Network and its members, the Secretary General thanked URI Africa for its dedication to grassroots work across Africa and globally. He also thanked Amb. Mussie Hailu for his efforts in bringing people of faith together to build a better world.
Since its founding in 2000, GNRC has brought together people of diverse religious and spiritual traditions to prevent violence against children, strengthen communities, and place children’s voices and best interests at the centre of efforts to build a more peaceful world. The network remains committed to working with URI Africa and its many partners to turn interfaith cooperation into lasting change for every child.
