A hopeful world for children is only possible when peace, justice, and dialogue guide our actions. This vision comes alive as we celebrate Dr. Firouz Bibi, GNRC Algeria Coordinator, for her appointment to the Network of African Women in Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FemWise-Africa) by the African Union.
Chosen from over 1,000 applicants, Dr. Bibi is one of just 59 women across the continent entrusted with the mandate of ensuring that women’s voices are at the center of Africa’s conflict prevention, mediation, and peace processes. Her appointment reflects the growing recognition of the vital link between interfaith dialogue, child protection, and peacebuilding in creating safe, secure, and sustainable societies.
A scholar of Comparative Religion, Dr. Bibi serves as GNRC Algeria’s Coordinator, a KAICIID Fellow, and a member of the Steering Committee of the African Union Interfaith Dialogue Forum. For years, she has dedicated her life to interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and defending children’s dignity and rights by ensuring that the voices of children, families, and communities often silenced by conflict are heard at the highest levels of decision-making.
Her leadership underscores the spirit of the Abu Dhabi Declaration on Building a Hopeful World for Children, affirming that grassroots and interfaith actors are indispensable in shaping Africa’s peace and security landscape. From combating hate speech to promoting coexistence across the Maghreb region, Dr. Bibi has embodied the GNRC Strategy 2030—working to build a world where children can grow up in peace, free from fear, and full of hope.
As Dr. Bibi steps into this role, the GNRC family celebrates her as a true example of Answering the Call of the Child—a call to build a safe, secure, and sustainable world for children.
Congratulations, Dr. Bibi. You carry forward our shared hopes, prayers, and commitment to building a hopeful world for all children.
