On behalf of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, UN Women Tanzania, invited Mr. Venance Temu, representing the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) Tanzania, to take part in the official launch of Tanzania’s first-ever National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (WPS TNAP).

The event, under the theme ‘Positioning Tanzania as a Regional Leader in Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda,’ brought together veteran peacekeepers, UN representatives, development partners, the African Union Special Envoy, and civil society organizations.

The WPS TNAP (2025–2029) outlines a five-year roadmap grounded in four strong pillars—participation, protection, prevention, and relief and recovery, which collectively form the backbone of inclusive peace and security in Tanzania and beyond.

In the words of the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Doto Biteko: “The Government is committed to ensuring that every woman in Tanzania is accorded her full dignity. Let us all come together to safeguard this National Action Plan and ensure it is effectively implemented.”

At the GNRC Sixth Forum in Abu Dhabi (2024), we listened to the call of the child and promised to answer this call through the Abu Dhabi Declaration on Building a Hopeful World for Children, guided by our GNRC Strategy 2030. That commitment to build a safe, secure, and sustainable world finds powerful expression in milestones like the WPS TNAP, where women’s dignity, participation, and protection are central to peace and justice. GNRC Tanzania stands ready to contribute to this transformative agenda of answering the call to build a hopeful world.
